Chloasma

Also known as hormone spots, melasma or dry spots. Most of the patients are females, which caused by excessive exposure to the UV radiation without the protection of sunscreen. Moreover, it is also related to pregnancy or taking contraceptive pills. Unlike freckles, the high-energy laser cannot be used for removal of chloasma, or else a large amount of melanin will be produced, causing the spots even darker. Under normal circumstances, the doctor will recommend the patient to use some professional medical whitening products, and the laser treatment can be applied when the pigmentation of the spots has been lightened by 60-70%. After the treatment, it is necessary for the patient to apply sunscreen to the skin for UV protection, otherwise it will trigger the re-formation of the chloasma.
